Meet Our Graduate Affiliates: Chloe Lola Browne and Wahinya Njau

The Center for Effective Lawmaking is excited to introduce Chloe Lola Browne and Wahinya Njau as two of our newest Graduate Affiliates.

Browne is a doctoral student at the University of Virginia studying American political institutions and research methodology. Her research interests include state politics, policy diffusion, and quantitative methodology. Prior to attending the University of Virginia, Browne was a Policy Fellow with the Correlates of State Policy Project for the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research. She also interned with the Michigan State Senate, where she assisted with legislative research and constituent casework. Browne earned her B.A. in Political Science, with a minor in Social Science Quantitative Data Analytics, from Michigan State University, where she was recognized as a Political Science Scholar in her graduating class.

Njau is a doctoral student in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia. His research interests include the complexities of state legislatures and the legislative process, with a particular focus on power dynamics and partisan control. Specifically, Njau is exploring how majority and minority party coalitions operate under certain circumstances, including periods of one-party legislative dominance. He earned his M.A. in Political Science from Kent State University in 2025 and holds a B.A. in History, with a minor in Classics, from The Ohio State University.
